The cost to take a pet on the river is $10, payable in the Shop. The most comfortable craft to take your dog in is a canoe, however, smaller dogs are comfortable in a kayak, as well.

RIVER QUESTIONS

What kind of river trips does Adventures Unlimited Outdoor Center offer?
We offer tubing, single kayaks, duo kayaks, canoeing w/o seatbacks, canoes with seatbacks and stand up paddle boarding.  We also have cooler tubes  (4-mile trip only).   Lifejackets and paddles are included in your equipment rental.  We do not transport personal crafts.

Click here for more information about our river trips.

What time do river trips run?
The 4 mile trip departs on the hour between 10:00am-2:00pm.

The 7-mile trip departs on the hour between 9:00am-2:00pm.

The 11-mile day trip departs at 9:00am only.  Advanced payment and reservations are required for this trip.

Currently, the 2 day (overnight trip) departs at 12:00pm only. Advanced payment and reservations are required for this trip.

The 1.5 and 3 day overnight trips have been suspended until further notice.

Do I need to make reservations for a river trip?
We strongly advise making an advanced prepayment and reservation. An advanced prepayment and reservation will guarantee the craft of your choice.

If you prefer to go on one of our longer trips (11 miles or an overnight trip), an advanced, prepaid reservation is required. These trips have limited space. To guarantee your seat on the ride upstream an advanced prepayment and reservation is required.

If you have a large group of people an advanced prepayment and reservation is strongly advised. If your group takes 10 or more of the same craft and an advanced prepayment and reservation are made a group rate is given. The group rate will not be given to a group of 10 or more of the same craft calling or showing up on the day of the river trip.

Is there an age or weight limit on river activities?

Age:  There are no specific age restrictions on river activities, however we do require that you bring your personal, Coast Guard approved life jacket for any children in your party to ensure a proper fit.  Children 6 and under are required by law to wear a life jacket at all times while on watercraft.

Weight: Life jackets, kayaks, canoes, standup paddleboards and tubes all have a carrying capacity so we must place restrictions due to weight to be able to operate safely. The maximum weight for our kayaks and tubes is 250 lbs. Stand up paddleboards have a maximum capacity of 200 lbs. Canoes have a maximum capacity of 400 lbs. Coolers should be limited to one 48 quart sized cooler or smaller. Please limit gear to avoid tipping and/or loss of personal items. Kids 10 and under may ride in the middle of a canoe sitting on the floor, not on the thwarts or on top of a cooler. No more than 2 children in the middle of a canoe. Due to the paddling skills required to properly canoe, we highly recommend you research proper canoeing techniques and safety prior to your trip. Adventures Unlimited staff will also
assist with instruction on the day of arrival if requested.

Safety notice: All the programs we offer are adventurous and exhilarating outdoor activities that have inherent subjective and objective hazards and risks, even if participants do not recklessly place themselves in harm’s way. Please execute caution during all activities and be aware of your surroundings at all times.

What should I bring on the river trip?
The most commonly lost items on the river are car keys, wallets, cell phones and glasses so please plan carefully regarding those items.  We recommend bringing sunscreen, bug spray, water, and a picnic lunch. You are more than welcome to bring a cooler; NO STYROFOAM OR GLASS ALLOWED ON THE RIVER.  Canoes will hold up to a 48-gallon cooler; small, soft side coolers work best for kayaks and we have cooler tubes ($15.90 – 4-mile trip only).

“It is wise to bring some water when one goes out to look for water” (Arab Proverb)

Is alcohol allowed on the river?
Alcohol is permitted; however, it is limited to 3 (12 oz.) beverages per legal adult.  We pride ourselves on being a family-friendly establishment and we ask that our guests respect this.

PLEASE NOTE:  REMEMBER, NO STYROFOAM OR GLASS ALLOWED ON THE RIVER!
